2025 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD TRIALS

16 Sep by Matt Rolston

Stockton Sharks would like to invite players to trial for our Development Squads. For the first time, we are offering an U10 Girls only Development Squad, all other teams listed below are mixed so anyone can trial for them. Training will be 1 day per week.

The Under 9 team will continue to play in the (non-graded) Community league. The purpose of creating the team is to have the kids play together for a year with a view to moving up into the U10 Development squads and having a seasons experience of playing together. Aside from going to JDL, there is no graded league for 9s to play in currently.

The Under 10 and 11 mixed teams will be entered into Community Grade 6 (the highest grade). Aside from JDL, there is no other competition or league they can enter that plays at a higher level. The U10G team will be entered into the (non-graded) Community competition as no graded competition currently exists.

Going forward from here, any Development Squad at Under 12 and older, will be entered into the highest league Stockton can enter which is currently Community Grade A.

We will be running six dates for the trials at Corroba Oval;

Wednesday 20th and Monday 25th November 2024
U10 GIRLS ONLY – 5.30pm – 6.30pm

Thursday 21st & Tuesday 26th November 2024 U10 – 4.30pm-5.45pm
U11 – 6pm-7.15pm

Thursday 28th November & Tuesday 3rd December 2024
U9 – 4.30pm-5.45pm
U12 – 6pm-7.15pm

With regards to goalkeepers, the only team we are definitely looking for a dedicated keeper is the U12 team at present. If you are trialling as a dedicated goalkeeper for U11, please attend the respective sessions listed above.

We will continue the goalkeeping rotation policy that we have used in prior seasons for the U9 and U10 squads.

You do not need to attend both nights but it would be preferred. If under any extenuating circumstances your child can not make the trials, please contact td@stocktonsharksfootball.com and this will be considered when selecting the teams. Please ensure the kids bring a water bottle along with boots and shinpads. We will have numbered bibs to help identify each player so don’t worry what kit they wear. If you have any questions, please email td@stocktonsharksfootball.com
