U9 & U10 DEVELOPMENT SQUAD GOALKEEPERS NEEDED!

27 Mar by Matt Rolston

Re-scheduled for Thursday 11th April 5.30-6.30 and Tuesday 16th April 5.15-6.15

We are on the lookout for goalkeepers to represent the U9 and U10 Development Squad. If your child is eligible for U9 and U10, and wishes to play for their Community team but also represent the Development Squad as a dedicated goalkeeper this season, we want them!

There will be trials for the positions at 4.30pm Tuesday 2nd April and the 2nd date to be confirmed. From these trials we hope to select at least 3 goalkeepers for the U9 and 1 more for the U10.

We are selecting (at least) 3 so that:
• We can allocate some more time to them for training and practice
• Cover all eventualities of time clashes for kick off (and locations)
• Create a strong foundation of willing goalkeepers at the club who have a good basis of knowledge of the position

Once the fixtures are out, we can request a particular child to play that game day for Development Squad where it suits (with regards to times/locations/availability). We’ll attempt to make sure every child gets the same game time where possible.

Each child will still play as normal for their community team (in goal or on pitch, purely up to them), then come and play for the Development Squad in goal for the full match. Please make sure the child understands this requirement. They will be invited to Development Squad training as well although it’s not mandatory to attend every week.

The goalkeeping sessions that have been happening in prior seasons will continue to happen as well.

Registration for the community team is all that’s required, you do not have to register the child twice. Keeper attire (socks/shorts/jersey/gloves) will be supplied.
